And while Head Coach Vinnie Morelli’s team is full of versatile, talented players, he likes his team’s chances with the starting 9 he presented tonight, which led the way in a 13-3 win for North Fork (20-12-1) over the Westhampton Aviators (12-21-0.) “They like to call themselves ‘The Avengers’ lineup,” Morelli said. “Those guys have been rolling all year, es...

With a chance to walk off an action-packed finale to the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) first half, Jakob Chavez (Paradise Valley CC) flared a single to left field, scoring Grant Kennedy (Richmond) and giving the Aviators an 8-7 win over the Sag Harbor Whalers. “I hit a ball hard last at-bat, so I was feeling good,” Chavez said after the game. “I was expecting a fastball there and got my pitch.” With the win, the Aviators finish th...
by Tucker Terranova Final: Clippers 4, Aviators 1 The Clippers win the first game of the HCBL campaign in seven innings. pic.twitter.com/CEa2sehDJu — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 12, 2025 After a long collegiate season and little time to recover before the start of the 2025 Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL), some early-season rust would have been understandable. But for Mark Gajowski — a rising sophomore left-hander and 2024 Riverhead graduate — his debut in summer ball couldn’t have gone much better. Coming off a strong freshman campaign at the University at Albany where he made 12 appearances including eight starts, Gajowski took the mound for the South Shore Clippers in Thursday’s opener at Aviator Park and delivered four no-hit innings, striking out five to earn t...

After finishing atop the 2023 regular season standings and falling one game short of their first championship since 2019, the Aviators have struggled to find their footing early on. In their last game before the upcoming All-Star Break, the Aviators sought to ignite a spark for the remainder of the summer. Fueled by a stellar complete game from Charlie Aurandt (St. Joseph’s LI) and a barrage of seven unanswered runs, the Aviators soared past the Sag Harbor Whalers...

They struggled in all facets, ranking last in runs scored and first in runs allowed. However, 2024 has ushered in a fresh start for North Fork under new head coach Vinnie Morelli. With a nearly complete roster overhaul, retaining only two players from last year, North Fork has surged to the top with an impressive 8-4 record heading into today’s game. In...
by Chris Donnelly Post game interview with Greg Becil pic.twitter.com/o8JtWJlHU2 — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 27, 2023 The Westhampton Aviators won game 3 and the Hamptons League semifinals against the Southampton Breakers by a score of 3-2 to send them to the championship series against the South Shore Clippers. It was a pitching duel as the Aviators sent Jake DeSlauriers (Hofstra) to the mound to send them to the championship series and he showed out going 7 innings only surrendering 1 hit and 1 earned run giving him the win. The Breakers sent Steven Hardiman (Bentley U) to the hill, and he was spectacular – going 6 innings, striking out 5 and only giving up 1 run which gave the Breakers a great chance to win. Hardiman worked through some trouble early giving up a l...
by Chris Donnelly In a Hamptons League Matchup between the Shelter Island Bucks and the Westhampton Aviators there was more than enough offense as the Bucks won 19-8 with a total of 27 runs scored. Luke Mistone started the game for the Aviators striking out 2 in the first and a caught stealing from catcher Waldier Perez to keep the Bucks off the board. Jacob Nolan took the ball for the Bucks and started off strong with a strikeout but, then struggled to find the zone proceeding to walk the next 2 batters. A double steal leading to a throwing error would start and end the scoring for the Aviators in the 1st inning giving them a 1-0 lead heading to the 2nd inning. The 2nd inning would be quiet for both teams, they both failed to push any runs across sending the game to the 3rd inning. ...

Michael DiForte was given the start today and his offense wasted no time to give him run support. After DiForte sent down the top of the Breakers’ lineup Nick Ungania, Johnny Catuosco, and Ty Gilligan in order. The next time he went out to the mound he had a 3-run cushion. That cushion stemming from the bottom of the 1st as the Aviators got to Southampton’s starter Louis Stallone early. Luke Mistone who was batting 2nd, walked, advanced on a wild pitch, and...
