And while Head Coach Vinnie Morelli’s team is full of versatile, talented players, he likes his team’s chances with the starting 9 he presented tonight, which led the way in a 13-3 win for North Fork (20-12-1) over the Westhampton Aviators (12-21-0.) “They like to call themselves ‘The Avengers’ lineup,” Morelli said. “Those guys have been rolling all year, es...
by Chris Sacchi On a very special night at Jean Cochran Park in honor of the Dylan Newman Forever Five Foundation, the North Fork Ospreys were one win away from clinching home field in the HCBL playoffs. Everything seemed to point towards a gratifying, emotional win for an Ospreys team that has led the standings for most of the year. Instead, it was the South Shore Clippers (16-14-1) who came away with a 8-3 victory over North Fork (19-12-1.) Yet, the night still delivered an impact that Dylan Newman would smile about. “Obviously not the outcome we wanted tonight, but it’s awesome, it meant so much to the community,” Brendan Duffy (SUNY Oneonta) said postgame. “To see all the support we get, it’s a great thing, just wish we could have gotten the win.” Brendan Duffy (@SUNY_Oneonta)...
by Tucker Terranova Will Darrell (Vassar) and Chris Morabito (Bucknell) discuss the @SagHbrWhalers’ 7-2 victory, Will’s outing, Chris’ incredible home-run robbery and what it will take to make the @HamptonsLeague playoffs. pic.twitter.com/IX2fHp3jxy — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 17, 2025 Playoff races are often decided by the smallest of margins. Whether a game or a run, baseball provides little room for error, especially late in the season. Chasing a playoff spot and clinging to a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning, Sag Harbor Whalers right fielder Chris Morabito (Bucknell) proved baseball is, quite literally, a game of inches. Morabito soared above the right-field fence to rob the first-place North Fork Ospreys of the lead, sparking a four-run bottom half that helped seal a cruci...
by Chris Sacchi ANOTHER game with an EPIC finish! The Whalers loaded the bases with two outs, trailing 6-5, but a dramatic rally came up just short, as the Ospreys win another classic game. pic.twitter.com/89Tkgib0Di — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2025 The game is on the line: bases loaded, two outs, one-run margin in the final inning. Every hitter dreams of this situation; coming up to bat with a chance to win it for your team. Most hitters would tell you they grew up rehearsing this heroic moment in their heads countless times, always ending up the hero in front of the fans. But have you ever thought about the PITCHER in this high-stakes, high-stress, winner-take-all situation? “ Mindset is, just throw strikes,” North Fork Ospreys closer Brian Espinal (Pace) said postg...
by Chris Sacchi WATCH: Brenden Duffy (SUNY Oneonta) belts a home run to lead an awesome offensive showing for the Ospreys. He tells @cjsacchi he didn’t know if the ball was out or not off the bat, and how his team has come together well to sustain a hot start. pic.twitter.com/JYE78xfbBe — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 2, 2025 A game between the two best teams in the HCBL did not disappoint. After becoming the first team in the collegiate summer league to reach double digit wins, the North Fork Ospreys (11-5-1) added another, defeating the Southampton Breakers (8-7-2) by a score of 11-8, in a game that ended in a nail-biter. “It’s an absolute blessing for me to compete every day with these guys,” winning pitcher Matt Guido (Lycoming College) said postgame. “I got to give a sho...
by Tucker Terranova Bobby Jellison delivered six shutout innings for the Ospreys in a 11-0 win. He talked with Axcess Baseball about what was working for him, his offense’s big inning, and discussed being in first place pic.twitter.com/mk0OWzyhyS — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 27, 2024 The 2023 season was a forgettable one for the North Fork Ospreys, compiling an 11-22 record that left them at the bottom of the standings. They struggled in all facets, ranking last in runs scored and first in runs allowed. However, 2024 has ushered in a fresh start for North Fork under new head coach Vinnie Morelli. With a nearly complete roster overhaul, retaining only two players from last year, North Fork has surged to the top with an impressive 8-4 record heading into today’s game. In...
by Gabe Zoda We spoke with Chris Andrews after his 2-3, 1 RBI, 2R performance at the plate and his run saving DP on the field. pic.twitter.com/bGi7Qf8Gyh — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 25, 2021 The Hamptons League saw some under the lights action at Jean Cochran Park last night. After winning their first game of the season on the 23rd, the North Fork Ospreys looked to carry some of that momentum into tonight when they took on the Westhampton Aviators. The Aviators were looking to create some distance to stay above .500. At the end of the day the Aviators would fall to the Ospreys by the score of 3-1. This game was tightly-contested throughout with a lot of big moments that changed the course of the game. The scoring took a couple of innings to get started as the First innin...
North Fork defeats Riverhead, 3-2, with JC Santini notching the go-ahead hit. He’s our @DigmiNation Player of the Game pic.twitter.com/V3mn546GYd — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 11, 2018 The first seven games of the North Fork Osprey’s season did not go exactly as planned. In fact, things went nearly as poorly as possible. Bill Ianniciello‘s squad opened up the summer with a 0-6-1 record, leaving them in last place in the league. Luckily for the Ospreys, it’s a long summer and thanks to the heroics of JC Santini, the comeback game starts now. The California-native supplied the go-ahead hit in the top of the eighth to give North Fork (1-6-1) a 3-2 victory over the Riverhead Tomcats (3-2-1). It was a pitcher’s duel early at Veterans Memorial Park. Austin Smith got the...
