With Schneider Entering Third Season at the Helm, Harborfields Tries to Flip Record

In year three with head coach Ian Schneider, the club will rely on a roster heavy on upperclassmen.  This year, 16 of the 18 roster spots are occupied by juniors and seniors, with 10 of them in the junior class. “Last year our core was definitely much younger,” Schneider said in an interview with Axcess Baseball. “We had a lot of sophomores and juniors and now we’re much older and more experienced. Harborfields Begins New Era Under Ian Schneider

Ian Schneider has a very strong coaching resume for a young, ascending coach. The 2010 Mount Sinai graduate has had assistant coaching jobs at Port Jefferson, Hauppauge and Harborfields. After Casey Sturm stepped down following the 2022 season, it was announced that Schneider would be promoted to head coach at Harborfields. “I am incredibly excited and incredibly grateful for all the coaches that have helped me – Jesse Rosen, Josh Gutes and Casey Sturm.
