Two years ago, Farmingdale finally got over the hump, as it captured its first county title after a 34-year drought. However, the Dalers were unable to complete the repeat last spring despite going 19-5-1. In the final game of a best-of-three series, Massapequa ups...

After a loss to Port Washington in the 2024 Nassau County Class AAA semifinals ended Massapequa’s six-year run of county championships, the Chiefs returned to the mountaintop Sunday morning, routing top-seeded and reigning champion Farmingdale, 12-0, in game three of the best-of-three championship series. Massapequa rallied after dropping the opener 1-0 in eight innings due to a balk-off. After bein...
by Tucker Terranova Final: Massapequa 0, Farmingdale 1 A walk-off balk gives Farmingdale the win and a game one series lead. pic.twitter.com/bqgfHqQn5f — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 30, 2025 It’s felt like Massapequa and Farmingdale have been on a collision course all season. Massapequa – the longtime powerhouse with six straight county titles before last year – and Farmingdale – the team that took the title in 2024 – have been two of the best in what is arguably Nassau’s toughest public school league this spring. With a combined 27-5-1 record in conference play, Thursday’s showdown delivered on what was billed as a clash of titans. Thursday’s encore offered an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel as Massapequa left-hander Thomas Harding and Farmingdale right-hander Colin Horowitz exc...

The senior RHP was thrusted into the ballgame on short notice when Farmingdale‘s starting pitcher, Lorenzo Cimino, was injured during his plate appearance in the first inning. The senior righty was called up in a huge game for the reigning Nassau County champs against second-place Oceanside, who entered with a record of 9-1, and came up huge in a 1-0 victory. Oceanside sent Adelphi-commit Dylan Beirne to the mound. The hard-throwing righty battled command issues in the ...
For the first time since 1990, Farmingdale captures the Nassau County Championship pic.twitter.com/GSGjX7q39t — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 26, 2024 Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Vin Messana Farmingdale has had some great teams over the years, but had been unable to take that final leap to the top of the mountain. In 2024, through a combination of outstanding clutch performances from their upperclassmen, some timely contributions from the depth of the roster, great coaching decisions and good fortunes, they were able to defeat Port Washington in the Nassau County Class AAA County Finals to be crowned champs for first time in 34 years. “It comes down to the group of guys we had,” said longtime head coach ...

On the evening of June 1st at Middle Country Athletic Complex, the Cougars were once again led by their ace, Stony Brook-commit Evan Kay and they defeated the Farmingdale Dalers, 2-1. Kay was dominant out on the mound allowing only one unearned one in a seven inning complete game shutout. He struckout 11 batters and walked none. Kay attacked Dale hitters early in the count with a sharp slider, a nasty changeup and a powerful fa...

After dropping Game 1 in eight innings, Port Washington fought back to win the next two games, toppling the reigning champions. They now aim to capture their first County Title since 1970. by Max Edelman (Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s season preview series.) In his 22nd year as head coach of the Farmingdale High School Dalers, head coach Frank Tassielli enters the year coming off what was yet another successful season for his team. The Dalers finished the 2023 season with an 18-3 record that saw them finish second in their league during the regular season. Despite winning their opening round of the playoffs over Syosset, the Dalers eventually fell short of their goal, falling to Plainview in three games. “We had a great season.” Tassielli said. “We started off pretty hot, we handled our crossover games pretty well, which set us up for our league play. Our division is a pretty tough division and we were 12-0. But we ended u...

The Hawks, who graduated one of their best players in program history last season in Dylan Banner, were able to rely behind last year’s postseason exit and exercise those playoff demons against their crosstown rivals. The teams split the first two games of the series with the road teams winning each game. Plainview made sure to take some of the anxiety out of the home crowd as they drew back-to-back walks to start the g...
