Dodgers Nation

Observations From Dodgers Nation Workout on Sunday

Since their inception four years ago, Dodgers Nation has gradually morphed into one of the top organizations on Long Island culminating in a Number 15 ranking for the Mid-Atlantic by Perfect Game at the 17u level. Christian Byrnes, founder of the organization, is very pleased with their progress. “We’re going to be very good at most of our age groups this year,” said Byrnes. Aside from their 17u team coached by Sean Burns, he is also expecting a very strong 14u team coached by Al Marazzo as well as 9u and 10u. He stated that the 9u team is coming off a great season in which they won the LI Hot Stove League and the 10u team got some new talented players into the program this winter. It’s become common to be at a Perfect Game or any local tournament and see one of the...

Dodgers Nation has quickly become one of the top programs around and they solidified that capturing the 18U/17U Varsity Division of the LI Boys of Summer. They defeated LI Hawks, 7-4, in the finals at Baseball Heaven on Wednesday evening. This was really a tale of two games, as the first four innings flew by with the Dodgers leading 2-0, while the next three innings were a bit of a slog once both teams got into the opposing team’ bullpen. Ultimately, Dodgers Nation took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth inning. The pitching match up was Nick Inzerillo were the Hawks and Brandon Lombardo for the Dodgers. Both pitchers were effective in the early going, although Inzerillo did need to work around two walks in the bottom of the first before escaping the jam on a fly out to cen...

The final two innings dispelled that notion, as the pace slowed significantly. Ultimately, the game ended in a 2-2 tie with Anthony Agosta coming through with a game-tying RBI single in the bottom of the 7th with two outs before the time limit halted this one. The pitching match up was Jack Flood (Mineola 2021) for B1000 Seminoles and Nick Schimmel (Bethpage 2021) for Dodgers Nation in this one. Both pitchers brought their ‘A’ games. Schimmel worked a 1-...

LI Dodgers Nation Overcomes Late Deficit to Pull Off 4-3 Victory

Jack Cantwell shuts the door for the Dodgers as they complete the comeback and take the 4-3 victory. pic.twitter.com/C1KuMw5PCE — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 12, 2020 By Chris Amato In a game that started off slowly for the Dodgers Nation offense, it was the work of exceptional pitching and tremendous defense that kept them in the game until it was time to finally wake up at the plate. Going down early 3-0 and seemingly not being able to get anything started with the bats, the Dodgers could have easily accepted defeat and handed the win over. However, through some key defensive plays that kept their spark alive, the team persevered through their struggles and came up with a way to get the job done.  The scoring started early for the Gators when John King led off the game wi...
