Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Ryan Manno After finishing 6-14 last season and missing the playoffs, the Bay Shore Marauders enter the new year with a clear mindset: compete every day and fight for a postseason spot in one of Long Island’s toughest leagues. Head Coach Chris Schiro knows the challenge ahead. League 2 is loaded with elite programs and some of the best pitching in New York, but that hasn’t shaken his confidence in this young roster. “We are going to be a young squad this year,” Schiro said. “We are looking to fight for a spot in the playoffs. Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s series by Max Edelman In his third season as head coach of the Bay Shore Marauders, head coach Chris Schiro’s team struggled to a 5-15 record. This season, the team is running with a smaller group after graduating 14 seniors last year. Head coach Chris Schiro is looking to get the team back in the playoffs in his third season managing Bay Shore.  “Last year we saw some growth from our younger players. We had some unfortunate injuries losing three pitchers early on and two key defensive/offensive pieces for several games later in the season,” Schiro tol...

With that said, it is a new era for the Marauders, who not only graduated several impact players but also longtime head coach, Mike Herbst, retired following the season. He is replaced by Coach Christopher Schiro, who was happy to share his thoughts on the upcoming season in an interview with Axcess Baseball. “I would have loved the opportunity to be on board last year’s staff with t...
