Final: Body Armor 2, Massapequa Redmen XXII 1 WP: Jack Carr (CG, 11 K, 4 hits, 83 Pitches) pic.twitter.com/AlupiacVEo — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) June 22, 2019 The game did not start out as planned for Jack Carr, as the hard-throwing righty allowed a first inning solo shot to Rob Manetta. It couldn’t have gone much better from that point forward. The Stony Brook-commit wound up striking out 11 batters, allowing just three more hits and needing only 83 pitches to fire a complete game in a 2-1 victory for the Body Armor Titans over Massapequa Redmen XXII in Perfect Game’s WWBA Northeast National Championship. Redmen XXII countered with Dan Meaney, a southpaw that was pounding the zone early and often. Pitching with a 1-0 lead, he was sharp and effective. He fired a 1-2...
Sean Lane (St. Dominic) has shown some legitimate pop. And he’s only a freshman pic.twitter.com/ymE7EuKHEU — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) November 5, 2017 There’s only a handful of degrees in this country that really stand out upon graduation. With most students now getting four-year degrees, the value of a degree has begun to decrease. That is unless you go to a prestigious university such as Notre Dame. For the third time in the last four years, a Long Island baseball player has committed to Notre Dame. St. Dominic 2021 third baseman Sean Lane announced his verbal commitment earlier this week. The powerful sophomore has a chance to join Brian Morrell and Brock Murtha as local players to attend the world-renowned university. I had a chance to speak with Lane and here’s...
Kevin Bowrosen (Miller Place 2020) clears the bases with a one-out triple and Body Armor takes a 3-1 lead in the fifth pic.twitter.com/p9OMHGZbAC — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) August 24, 2018 Great hitters are able to notice patterns in opposing pitchers and capitalize when they make mistakes. James Madison-commit Kevin Bowrosen (Miller Place 2020) is that caliber of hitter. And the mistake happened to be a critical one in the fifth inning with the bases loaded with his Body Armor Titans team trailing 1-0. The Miller Place infielder took a 1-1 fastball and ripped it into the left-center field alley way to score Josh Graham, Luke Orbon and Danny Corona which proved to be the difference in the game. “The pitcher was sitting outside on me the whole time so I waited on that pitc...
Mike Freda following the 9-3 victory. He hit the bases clearing triple in the sixth to break the game open pic.twitter.com/ogUNiSt5iY — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 24, 2018 With the bases loaded, one out and Mike Freda at the plate, the game was at a critical point as the Body Armor were holding onto a 6-3 lead over the East End Aviators. Coax a double play and there would still be hope. Instead, the powerful catcher rippled one just inside the third-base line and it rolled all the way to the wall allowing all three base runners to score as he scampered all the way to third. “I was just sitting fastball, waiting and I drove it down the line,” said the rising sophomore at Hills West. The game was close up until that inning when the Titans put up four runs to essent...
One of the top bats in the class of 2018 is now off the board with Will Feil (Wheatley 2018) committing to the University at Albany this evening. The third baseman with a sweet left-handed swing really rose his stock with a tremendous 2017 campaign in which he led Wheatley to the Class B Nassau County Championship over Oyster Bay. He went 3-for-3 in that game with three separate RBI hits. He also performed well this summer in the tournament and showcase circuit. Albany has shown an affinity towards Long Island players over the years with several of the top players choosing to attend there; notably Stephen Woods (Hills East ’13, San Francisco Giants draft pick). Feil will be with us in our inaugural Home Run Derby on September 9 at NYIT for Team Fontana.
