John Franco, who took off his Farmingdale uniform just weeks ago following a loss to Massapequa in the Class AAA finals, got one final chance to represent his school and he made it count. On Monday night, Franco and 49 of Long Island’s best seniors suited up for one final high school game in the 18th annual Bryan Bonin Grand Slam Challenge at Farmingdale State Colle...

by Tucker Terranova Final: Massapequa 0, Farmingdale 1 A walk-off balk gives Farmingdale the win and a game one series lead. pic.twitter.com/bqgfHqQn5f — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) May 30, 2025 It’s felt like Massapequa and Farmingdale have been on a collision course all season. Massapequa – the longtime powerhouse with six straight county titles before last year – and Farmingdale – the team that took the title in 2024 – have been two of the best in what is arguably Nassau’s toughest public school league this spring. With a combined 27-5-1 record in conference play, Thursday’s showdown delivered on what was billed as a clash of titans. Thursday’s encore offered an old-fashioned pitcher’s duel as Massapequa left-hander Thomas Harding and Farmingdale right-hander Colin Horowitz exc...

After dropping Game 1 in eight innings, Port Washington fought back to win the next two games, toppling the reigning champions. They now aim to capture their first County Title since 1970. Following 18-3 Season, Farmingdale Looking to Build on Success

by Max Edelman (Special thanks to Metamorphosis Landscape Design for sponsoring this year’s season preview series.) In his 22nd year as head coach of the Farmingdale High School Dalers, head coach Frank Tassielli enters the year coming off what was yet another successful season for his team. The Dalers finished the 2023 season with an 18-3 record that saw them finish second in their league during the regular season. Despite winning their opening round of the playoffs over Syosset, the Dalers eventually fell short of their goal, falling to Plainview in three games.  “We had a great season.” Tassielli said. “We started off pretty hot, we handled our crossover games pretty well, which set us up for our league play. Our division is a pretty tough division and we were 12-0. But we ended u...
