Whether a game or a run, baseball provides little room for error, especially late in the season. Chasing a playoff spot and clinging to a 3-2 lead in the sixth inning, Sag Harbor Whalers right fielder Chris Morabito (Bucknell) proved baseball is, quite literally, a game of inches. Morabito soared above the right-field fence to rob the first-place North Fork Ospreys of the lead, sparking a four-run bottom half that helped seal a cruci...
The Top Tier Aviators took on the Islip Owls Baseball Club on Saturday morning in a LI Boys of Summer 15u American doubleheader. The two games featured a mix of almost everything; good defense, good pitching and a lot of offense. The Aviators ended up with the upper hand on the Owls today, as they won game two of the twin bill after game one ended in a tie. Game 1 This one ends in a 4-4 tie, great job by Ascher to retire the last 3 outs in a row. Game 2 coming up shortly. pic.twitter.com/z8AlieQIPV — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 12, 2025 Game one of the doubleheader started off slow on the offensive side of things, with only 1 run being scored in the first 3 innings of the contest. It was well worth the wait. In front of hundreds of fans at the Sag Harbor Whalers’ beautiful home field, Mashashimuet Park, the HCBL All-Stars held off the ACBL, winning 8-5 after Everett Gerber (Bucknell) stranded the tying run aboard in the ninth inning with a strikeout. Though the game was an exhibition, the competitive energy was clear in both dugouts as ...

With a chance to walk off an action-packed finale to the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL) first half, Jakob Chavez (Paradise Valley CC) flared a single to left field, scoring Grant Kennedy (Richmond) and giving the Aviators an 8-7 win over the Sag Harbor Whalers. “I hit a ball hard last at-bat, so I was feeling good,” Chavez said after the game. “I was expecting a fastball there and got my pitch.” With the win, the Aviators finish th...

OC Titans 15U 2 – Yeti Baseball Select 0 pic.twitter.com/V5qJS6oqex — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 7, 2025 Very few things in sports compare to an old fashioned pitcher’s duel in baseball. On Monday night in the Long Island Boys of Summer 15U National Division, there was a pitcher’s duel, but it definitely wasn’t old fashioned. Between the OC Titans 15U and Yeti Baseball Select 15U, there were a total of nine pitchers used in a contest that saw the Titans come out on top 2-0. After competing in the 15U Perfect Game Super25 National Championship tournament this past weekend, the Titans looked to right the ship in their fourth league game of the summer. They found themselves out in front early after putting a couple of run...

by Chris Sacchi ANOTHER game with an EPIC finish! The Whalers loaded the bases with two outs, trailing 6-5, but a dramatic rally came up just short, as the Ospreys win another classic game. pic.twitter.com/89Tkgib0Di — Axcess Baseball LI (@axcessbaseball) July 3, 2025 The game is on the line: bases loaded, two outs, one-run margin in the final inning. Every hitter dreams of this situation; coming up to bat with a chance to win it for your team. Most hitters would tell you they grew up rehearsing this heroic moment in their heads countless times, always ending up the hero in front of the fans. But have you ever thought about the PITCHER in this high-stakes, high-stress, winner-take-all situation? “ Mindset is, just throw strikes,” North Fork Ospreys closer Brian Espinal (Pace) said postg...

After becoming the first team in the collegiate summer league to reach double digit wins, the North Fork Ospreys (11-5-1) added another, defeating the Southampton Breakers (8-7-2) by a score of 11-8, in a game that ended in a nail-biter. “It’s an absolute blessing for me to compete every day with these guys,” winning pitcher Matt Guido (Lycoming College) said postgame. “I got to give a sho...

After starting the season winless through four games, the Breakers have now won five of their last seven — four of those wins coming in come-from-behind fashion. Fueled by Ciminiello’s go-ahead single up the middle, the Breakers answered the Sag Harbor Whalers’ lone run in the third with three unanswered to...
