Q & A With Binghamton-commit Joey Vulin

Two years in a row, Sachem North was knocking on the door of capturing a Suffolk County Championship. In 2024, they lost to Commack and in 2025 they lost to Connetquot, after needing just one win in two tries.

In the latter year, it was a freshman named Joey Vulin, who earned the win to send them into the finals with a gem against Smithtown East. Now a junior, Vulin recently announced his verbal commitment to SUNY Binghamton.

The 6’3 RHP will likely anchor the Sachem North rotation this season as they look to capture their first County Championship since 2011.

Vulin was named sixth team All-State and continued his dominant ways this summer for Body Armor Titans Quattrini. For the year he put up the following stats:

74.1 IP

10-4 record

107 Ks

24 BBs

1.31 ERA

0.94 WHIP

His pitching coach, Anthony Papa, had the following to say about him:

“Joey has been a pleasure to work with! He’s a very focused kid, always looking for ways to get better and a tremendous athlete. His work ethic is unmatched! He’s a fun guy to work with, extremely coachable and he makes pitching at a high level look easy. Great kid and couldn’t be happier about his commitment to Binghamton. With the amount of hard work he’s put in, he most definitely deserves it.”

I had a chance to speak with him and here’s what he had to say…
