St. John’s Splits Doubleheader, Moves to 7-2 in BIG EAST

St. John’s split a doubleheader with UConn, rallying late to win game one, 6-5, before falling 10-0 in game two.

Game one was fueled by standout performances from Lewis Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored, three stolen bases, and an RBI, and Jon LeGrande, who finished 3-for-5 with a triple and an RBI. Rob Mansour and Dylan Fitzsimmons each added doubles, while Jayder Raifstanger and Shaun McMillan drove in runs.

On the mound, Evan Chaffee tossed 5.2 innings, allowing two earned runs with three strikeouts. Evan Hoeckele earned the win, and Victor Frederick secured the save with a combined 3.1 innings of relief.

Trailing 5-3 in the ninth, St. John’s mounted a dramatic comeback. Fitzsimmons sparked the rally with a pinch-hit double, Rodriguez knocked in a run, and LeGrande delivered a game-tying triple. Moments later, McMillan came through with the go-ahead RBI single to seal the 6-5 win.

Game two told a different story, as UConn capitalized on errors and quieted the Red Storm bats in a 10-0 run-rule victory. St. John’s managed just six hits, including a late double from Agresti, but failed to score. The split still secured a strong conference standing for the Red Storm as they continue to trend upward in BIG EAST play. However, consistency at the plate will be key moving forward, especially against stronger pitching staffs.

Stony Brook Sweeps Monmouth Behind Dominant Pitching and Timely Hitting

Stony Brook swept Monmouth in a doubleheader, winning 3-1 and 5-2 to take the series.

In game one, Micah Worley dominated on the mound, striking out eight across 8.0 strong innings. Nick Zampieron set the tone offensively, reaching base multiple times and extending his hitting streak, while Nicholas Dromboski contributed key RBIs.

Game two featured late-game execution. Zampieron delivered the go-ahead RBI in the seventh, and Mike Cervoni added insurance with a clutch two-run single in the eighth. Christian Martinez shut the door with dominant relief to earn the win.

The Seawolves showed strong discipline both at the plate and on the mound throughout the day. Their ability to execute in late innings continues to be a defining strength as they build momentum.

Hofstra Shut Out by UNCW

Hofstra fell 12-0 to UNCW in eight innings as the Seahawks evened the series.

Danny Corona recorded a double, while Tyler Cox, Sam Leonard, and Michael Craig added hits. However, UNCW’s pitching proved overwhelming, as Allen Cooper tossed a complete game with 11 strikeouts.

The Seahawks broke the game open with a six-run eighth inning, highlighted by two three-run home runs from Kevin Jones and Danny O’Brien. Hofstra struggled to generate any sustained offense, leaving multiple opportunities uncapitalized. They will look to bounce back in the series finale and regain rhythm at the plate.

 

LIU Rallies Late for Wild 12-8 Comeback Win

LIU stormed back in dramatic fashion, scoring six runs in the ninth inning to defeat Coppin State 12-8.

Jake Kelleher launched a game-tying home run earlier in the contest, while Joseph Durso played a pivotal role with multiple RBIs. In the ninth, Nick Matson delivered a clutch two-run double before Nate Figueroa, Noah Sorensen, and Ryan Rivera all drove in runs to complete the comeback.

The late-inning surge showcased LIU’s resilience and ability to perform under pressure. Their offensive depth was on full display, with contributions coming from throughout the lineup.

Fordham Sweeps Doubleheader, Completes Series Sweep of La Salle

Fordham extended its dominance with a doubleheader sweep, winning 5-4 and 10-3.

In game one, Chase Hanawalt struck out eight over a strong outing, while Anthony Grabau drove in two runs. Aric Berg closed it out for his sixth save.

Game two featured a breakout performance from Taylor Kirk, who went 4-for-6 with an RBI and a stolen base. Fordham broke the game open with a six-run third inning, powered by extra-base hits from Madden Ocko and timely RBIs across the lineup.

The Rams controlled all aspects of the game throughout the series, combining strong pitching with timely hitting. Their sweep highlights a team beginning to hit its stride as conference play intensifies.

Molloy Extends Win Streak to 19 Behind Mulqueen’s Heroics

Molloy swept D’Youville in thrilling fashion, winning 8-7 and 4-3, both on walk-offs by Steve Mulqueen.

In game one, Mulqueen delivered a two-run home run and later a walk-off double in extras, finishing with four hits and three RBIs.

Game two saw him strike again, lining a walk-off single in the seventh. Mike Knapp was dominant on the mound, throwing a complete game with 10 strikeouts.

Molloy continues to prove itself as one of the hottest teams in the region with clutch performances game after game. Their ability to win close contests has been a major factor in their impressive 19 game winning streak.

 

Adelphi Drops Two Close Games to No. 22 SNHU

Adelphi fell just short in both games, losing 4-3 and 6-5.

In game two, Johnny Catuosco led the offense with three RBIs, including a double, while Zach DeMilt added two RBIs. Adelphi led late but surrendered a walk-off two-run single in the ninth.

Despite the losses, Adelphi showed strong competitiveness against a nationally ranked opponent. If they can tighten up late game execution, they have the potential to turn these close losses into wins.

 

Queens Splits Doubleheader in High-Scoring Affair

Queens dropped game one 7-4 but exploded for a 21-11 win in game two.

In the nightcap, all nine starters recorded hits, with Vincent Mallon driving in five runs. Queens broke the game open with a 12-run fifth inning, their highest-scoring inning of the season.

The offensive explosion highlighted the team’s depth and ability to respond after a loss. If they can carry that momentum forward, Queens could build consistency moving ahead.

Farmingdale State Sweeps Skyline Leader Behind Power and Pitching

Farmingdale swept St. Joseph’s-LI, 5-1 and 7-2.

Richie Heyder led the charge, launching a three-run home run in game one and finishing the day with six RBIs. Strong pitching performances from TJ Cox (6.0 IP, 1 ER) and Christian Pellegrino (6.0 IP, 1 ER) anchored the victories.

The Rams delivered one of their most complete performances of the season against a top conference opponent. Their balanced attack on both sides of the ball makes them a serious contender in the Skyline Conference.

 

Merchant Marine Walks Off Game Two to Complete Sweep

USMMA swept Old Westbury, winning 3-1 and 5-4 in 11 innings.

Game one featured a clutch two-run triple from Luke Kruer, while Caden Pierce secured the save.

In game two, Ryan Melton tied the game with a solo home run, and Braden Vazquez delivered the walk-off RBI single in the 11th to cap the comeback victory.

The Mariners showcased resilience by battling back late and executing in extra innings. Their ability to win tight games continues to be a defining strength this season.
