College baseball teams from across Long Island were in action Saturday, with several programs delivering strong offensive performances and key wins. From St. John’s securing a series victory on the road to Molloy and SUNY Maritime earning dominant doubleheader sweeps, it was a busy day around the local college baseball landscape.

Division-I:
St. John’s 3, Charlotte 2

The St. John’s Red Storm secured a series win with a 3-2 victory over Charlotte on Saturday afternoon at Hayes Stadium. Adam Agresti continued his scorching stretch at the plate, blasting a 415 foot two-run homer in the first inning for his fifth consecutive game with a home run. Charlotte answered with a solo homer and an RBI single to tie the game, but the Red Storm regained the lead in the seventh when Jon LeGrande lined an RBI single to left center, scoring Rob Mansour. LeGrande finished 3-for-4 to lead the offense. On the mound, Evan Chaffee delivered six strong innings, allowing just two runs while striking out three to earn the win. Dylan Johnson closed out the final two innings, escaping a bases loaded jam in the eighth before sealing the victory with a strikeout in the ninth to secure the series for St. John’s.
Fordham 6, Davidson 4

Fordham evened its series with Davidson with a 6-4 win powered by a dominant pitching performance from Chase Hanawalt. The Rams broke through in the fourth inning on RBI singles from Matt Dieguez and Ernie Little before erupting for four more runs in the sixth to take control of the game. Madden Ocko started the rally with an RBI double, while Anthony Grabau added a two run triple and Mason Dean chipped in with an RBI single. Hanawalt was the story of the afternoon, striking out a career high 13 batters over seven innings while allowing just two runs on four hits. The 13 strikeouts marked the most by a Fordham pitcher since 2021. Andrew Kapica closed out the final two innings to secure the win for the Rams.
Hofstra 5, Monmouth 4

Hofstra pulled out a 5-4 road victory over Monmouth, evening the series between the teams. The Pride jumped out to a fast start with three runs in the first inning and another in the second to take an early 4-0 lead. CJ Griggs drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly, while Tyler Cox added an RBI single and Gabriel Melara brought home another run after reaching on an error. Monmouth battled back to tie the game with a pair of runs in both the third and fifth innings. In the seventh, Griggs delivered again, lining an RBI single that snapped the tie and put Hofstra back in front. Tanner Sanderoff earned the win with two and two thirds innings of scoreless relief, while Deuce Musial recorded the final outs to secure his first save.
LIU 15, Wagner 4
LIU powered past Wagner 15-4, exploding offensively early in the contest. The Sharks scored 13 runs in the second and third innings, putting the game out of reach almost immediately. Jake Kelleher led the offensive party, going 3-for-4 with four RBI highlighted by a bases clearing double in the third inning. Joseph Durso also had a strong day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Nick Matson added three hits and two RBI of his own. Mike Polubinski and Elijah Fairchild each contributed two RBI in the win. On the mound, Nicholas Finarelli earned the victory after striking out five over 5.1 innings.
Stony Brook 4, Charleston 5 (F/10)
Stony Brook pushed Charleston into extra innings but ultimately fell 5-4 in 10 innings in the second game of the series. The Seawolves jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind RBI hits from James Schaefer and Luke Szepek. Charleston responded with a three run fifth inning to take the lead before Stony Brook answered again in the seventh when Chris Carson delivered a two out RBI single. The Seawolves tied the game in the ninth after Nicholas Dromboski tripled and scored on a ground out. Stony Brook appeared to escape trouble in the ninth when Christian Martinez stranded the bases loaded. However, Charleston walked it off in the tenth following a defensive error.
Division-II:
Adelphi 13, Saint Anselm 12
Saint Anselm 18, Adelphi 4
Adelphi split a dramatic doubleheader with Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 play. In game one, the Panthers staged a thrilling comeback to win 13-12 after trailing late in the game. Johnny Catuosco starred at the plate, going 5-for-6 with four RBIs including the walk off single in the ninth inning. Michael Robinson kept Adelphi alive with a pinch hit home run to tie the game in the final frame. The Hawks responded in game two, defeating the Panthers 18-4 after breaking the game open with a 10-run seventh inning. Robinson and Catuosco each hit home runs for Adelphi in the loss.
Molloy 23, Staten Island 11
Molloy 14, Staten Island 5
Molloy completed a dominant sweep of Staten Island, winning 23-11 and 14-5 in a high scoring doubleheader. Junior Brian Sanchez delivered a historic performance, finishing the day 9 for 12 with nine RBI while tying the program single game hit record with six hits in game one. The Lions exploded for eight runs in the third inning of the opener to build a massive early lead. Jeremy Taggart added four hits and four RBI, while Anthony Marsillo drove in four runs and hit a home run. Molloy continued its offensive surge in game two, scoring in six different innings. Sanchez again led the way with three hits and four RBI as the Lions improved to 8-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
Queens 7, Mercy 19
Queens 2, Mercy 3
Queens dropped both games of its ECC doubleheader against Mercy despite strong individual performances. In game one, the Knights erased a 5-0 deficit to tie the game behind home runs from Joshua Angely and Michael Vilardi. However, Mercy responded with 12 runs across the fifth and sixth innings to pull away for a 19-7 victory. Angely finished the game 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, and two RBI. In game two, Christopher Naronis delivered a strong complete game effort, striking out eight batters while allowing just three runs. Queens battled late but ultimately fell 3-2, leaving the tying run stranded in scoring position.
Division-III:
Farmingdale State 5, Scranton 6
Farmingdale State 3, Scranton 13
Farmingdale State was swept in a doubleheader by Scranton, losing 6-5 in game one and 13-3 in game two. The Rams jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the opener but could not hold on as Scranton rallied with two runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good. Mike D’Angelo and Dom LoFroscia each had three hits for the Rams.
In game two, Scranton exploded for nine runs in the second inning, putting the contest out of reach early. Farmingdale managed three runs across the fourth and sixth innings but could not close the gap. John Francisco had three hits out of the leadoff spot for the Rams.
Old Westbury 1, Colby-Sawyer 3

Old Westbury split its doubleheader against Colby Sawyer during the Myrtle Beach spring break games. The Panthers fell 3-1 in the opener, struggling to generate offense against strong pitching. However, they responded in dominant fashion in game two, exploding for a 14-1 victory to salvage the split. Mike Petrucelly, JT Torres and James Reilly all homered for the Panthers. Donny Whalen and James Reilly each drove in four runs. Louis Pizzileo struck out 9 over six dominant innings.
The offensive outburst provided momentum as Old Westbury continues its spring trip in South Carolina against Ursinus tonight.
Maritime 11, Baruch 0
Maritime 9, Baruch 0
SUNY Maritime swept Baruch with a pair of shutout victories, winning 11-0 and 9-0 at Reinhart Baseball Field. Joe Demos led the way in game one, tossing a complete game five-hit shutout while striking out eight. The Privateers jumped out early behind a three-run home run from Alex Bardi in the first inning. Dylan Payano and Owen Weber each had three hits.
In game two, Ryan Morash matched the performance with another five-hit shutout outing. Owen Weber had a perfect 4-for-4 game at the plate as Maritime finished the day with 26 total hits across the two games.
USMMA 12, Lasell 1
The Merchant Marine Mariners closed their Florida trip with a convincing 12-1 win over Lasell. Luke Kruer drove in three runs with a pair of sacrifice flies and an RBI single, while Braden Vazquez added a two-run double during a four-run sixth inning. Landon Troutt also contributed with a two-run double late in the game to cap the scoring. The Mariners collected 14 hits, with four players recording multi-hit performances. Freshman Baxter Hamilton earned the win on the mound, throwing six scoreless innings as USMMA improved to 4-2 on the season.
They’ll be back in action on Tuesday in their home opener against Coast Guard
