Coach Rob Fisher and the Bethpage Golden Eagles are looking to turn the corner this upcoming year. The team went 6-14 last year. With a roster full of experienced upperclassmen who gained valuable varsity time over the past few seasons, Coach Fisher believes the team is ready to compete in a deep AA-III league.
Coach Fisher said in an interview with Axcess Baseball, “A young team was able to get a lot of experience.” This is a huge positive that they are taking into this year.”
The team only lost four seniors last year. This doesn’t really impact the pitching staff, as it was all junior and sophomore pitchers on the mound. They return an experienced and talented staff. They have four seniors who are committed, who will lead this squad this year.

The first player that is going to be one of the most important for success is Will Lynn. He is a pitcher and DH who will be continuing his baseball journey at Palm Beach Atlantic in the fall. Last year, he was an All-County award winner. Over 38.1 innings last year, he had a record of 5-2, 1.64 ERA, and 40 strikeouts. He will be one of the top arms in this rotation for this upcoming year. On the offensive side of the ball he batted .318, with 1 HR and 13 RBIs.

Another key senior will be Ikey Cohen, who will be playing baseball at Farmingdale State next year. In about 20 innings last year, he had an ERA of 2.21 and 27 strikeouts. He averaged more than one strikeout per inning pitched.
The next senior who is committed to play in college is Charlie Ferrante. He will be pitching at Oberlin College next year. He pitched 23.1 innings with 24 strikeouts last year. Including Ferrante, there are a total of three senior pitchers who are playing college ball and will be anchors of this pitching staff.
The final senior who will be playing college baseball is Jack Lapertosa. He will be playing at Western Connecticut. Lapertosa won All-League last year. He always finds a way on base. Last year, he had an OBP of .542. He also has some pop in his bat, as he had 5 doubles last year.

The senior class rounds out with outfielder Tim Conlon and second baseman Max D’Orazio. Conlon won All-Conference last year. Conlon had a batting average of .368 as a junior. D’Orazio batted .328 with 11 RBIs last year. These two seniors will be huge pieces on the offensive side of the ball this upcoming season.
The infield will mostly consist of juniors besides D’Orazio. Despite the other 3 players being juniors, they have been gaining experience on varsity for a few years. A lot of the players on this team have multiple years of experience on varsity, which is a huge plus heading into this season.

On the left side of the infield, Antonio Porcelli and Liam Walters will have major roles. Porcelli plays third base and outfield. Porcelli had back-to-back years batting above .300 in his freshman and sophomore years. Walters will be the primary shortstop. He has also started on varsity since his freshman year. He batted .280 and had 10 stolen bases.
The final junior who will have a huge role on this team is junior Sean Lynn. He hit one homer last year and four doubles. This year, he will be the full-time first baseman.
One underclassman Coach Fisher expects to contribute is Noah Imbriani. Imbriani is a catcher, but also can play the outfield. With senior Lapertosa leading the way in front of him, Imbriani will have a great example to follow and will be able to learn a lot from his leadership and experience.
Coach Fisher and the Golden Eagles are ready to compete in a competitive AAIII. Coach Fisher said, “There is good competition across the league and we are looking forward to a strong balanced league.” This league always has a few teams that are good every year. The team wants to improve throughout the entirety of the season and if that happens Coach Fisher believes a “deep run will be on the table.”
The hopes and expectations are high for the Golden Eagles heading into the 2026 season. On March 26th, the Bethpage Golden Eagles open their season against the Hicksville Comets in a non-league matchup.
