Game one featured a pitching matchup of Mayhem’s Liam Brady and Longhorns’ Joey Moy.
The scoring started early for the Mayhem, with 2 runs coming across in the 1st inning. Joseph Lentini scored on an errant throw by the Longhorns catcher. Then Ben Grabov ripped a ball to the outfield which would be a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
The Mayhem would tack on 2 more runs in the top of the 4th. Once again an errant throw by the catcher scored a runner. Then Brady Kalkau showed off some impressive two-strike hitting, with a line drive to center field to drive in Mayhem’s 4th run of the game.
There wouldn’t be any more offensive action on either side until the top of the 7th, where the Mayhem put up 4 more runs to get to their final total of 8. All 4 runs were scored on free passes, with RBI walks by Anthony Provviseiro, Chris Tibaldi, Gio Balestriere and a hit by pitch on Jacob Lam.
This would enact the mercy rule and end the ballgame, Mayhem winning 8-0.
Brady was excellent on the mound for the Mayhem. He worked quickly and was efficient throughout the start.
His final line, 5 innings pitched, 4 hits, 0 runs, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts. A fantastic start for Brady.
Ethan Mann came in for the 6th, throwing a perfect inning, to contriubute to the shutout.

Game two went a bit differently for Mayhem, the exact opposite actually.
The pitching matchup for game two featured Longhorns’ Max Troche and Mayhem’s Chris Tibaldi. Although the Mayhem went with a bullpen game for this one, using 5 different pitchers in the game.
In this one, the Longhorns jumped to a quick lead in the first. As Josh Song walked and then was driven in by Patrick Dolan as he ripped a triple to right field.
The Longhorns would increase their lead by 3 in the 2nd inning. Braden Cloghessy stole home on a passed ball to make it 2-0. Then Song and Jimmy Slavin would rip back-to-back RBI singles to make it 4-0.
The 3rd inning would once again feature offense for the Longhorns. First, Moy sent a ball into deep center field for a sacrifice fly, making it 5-0. Then it would be Mike McGlynn, ripping a 2 RBI single up the middle to make it a 7-0 ballgame. More on McGlynn in a bit.
The Longhorns last run to get to 8 would come in during the top of the 5th, an RBI single for Thomas Terravecchia. Due to the time limit the 5th inning was the last of the game, giving the Longhorns the 8-0 victory.
McGlynn didn’t only contribute on the offensive side of things for his team today but also on the mound. He threw 2.2 innings for the Longhorns from the 3rd inning and on. He allowed just 1 base runner and struck out 2.
Axcess Baseball spoke to McGlynn after the game.
“I was just trying to hit a ball hard anywhere,” McGlynn said. “Hit a line drive, something in the air to score those 2 runs because that’s big for my team.”
“I knew I could come through, it’s just all about my approach at the plate,” He said. “I just wanted to hit something hard and I got it through.”
“My slider was doing good today, sworded a couple kids.“ McGlynn said. “Then mixing in the fastball got a couple kids looking.”
Mayhem moves to 8-6-2 and Longhorns are now 9-8 in the 14u National Division following the split.
