It was bound to be a good game when Micheal Sime, brother of recent Nationals 4th round draft pick Miguel, took the mound for Showtime Legacy against third place B1 Ghost Parise. Similar to his brother, Micheal is a power pitcher who displays an electric fastball and he showed it in the first inning by blowing three of them by the first three batters for an easy 1-2-3 inning.
After Sime’s great inning, Showtime had a promising start to the bottom half of the first after lead off batter, Owen Phillips, reached on an error. After B1 starting pitcher, Zachary Jeshiva, got Leo Cotaldo to groundout, Nick Salomone ripped a single up the middle with a runner on second, but centerfielder Jojo Basile threw a dart from center field to get the runner at home. Jeshiva induced another roll over in the next at bat to escape the first inning scoreless.

Micheal Sime started the second inning by getting a quick fly out to center, but he followed it up with a walk to John Curtis and a wild pitch that allowed Curtis to advance to scoring position. Needing two big outs, Sime got them quickly, as he got Dylan McHugh to ground out on a fastball on the hands and he sat down Akif Khan, once again utilizing the power fastball for strike three. Zach Jeshiva responded to Sime’s blank spot with a very quick inning of his own. Jeshiva induced a groundout back to himself, a swinging strikeout, and a pop out back to himself to keep the game tied 0-0 heading into the third.
Sime started off his third inning of work with a ground out to short and a walk to Andrew Greco, who then stole second base. Finding himself in a similar situation as the last inning, Sime once again got two big outs with a runner on second. He caught opposing pitcher Jeshiva looking on a pitch on the black for out number two and blew a fastball by leadoff batter Jojo Basile for out number three.
As he did in the first two innings, Jeshiva responded to Sime’s scoreless inning with one of his own. After getting Sime to roll over to short and striking out TJ Lenski, Jeshiva walked the next two batters. With runners on first and second, Jeshiva settled down and struck out lead off batter Owen Phillips on a nasty breaking ball for strike three.
Sime started the fourth inning with yet another quick leadoff out, walk, and then a wild pitch to put Jake Burlock in scoring position for B1. With Burlock in second, Sime got Pasquale Campagnuolo to pop up to first, and he then walked Nolan O’Toole. Dylan McHugh then stepped up to the plate in search of a clutch two out base hit, and he almost came up with it as he jumped all over a fastball and hit it hard on a line, but it was right at the left fielder for the third out of the inning.

After Zach Jeshiva started his fourth inning with a walk, his catcher Pasquale Campagnulo picked him up and caught Leo Cotaldo stealing with a perfect throw down to second. Jeshiva then got two quick outs via a pop out to second and a swinging strikeout on an elevated fastball.
With the time limit nearing, B1 knew they’d have to put some runs on the board soon to have a chance to win this game. They did just that in the 5th inning, as they took advantage of Sime being pulled from the game after 4 innings of work. Akif Khan started the inning off with a base hit into left field, and Micheal Tancredi’s bunt got thrown into right field, which allowed Khan to score. Andrew Greco then worked a walk and pitcher Zachary Jeshiva helped himself by taking an outside pitch into right field for a single and an RBI. After a Jojo Basile strikeout, Owen Murray delivered a big blow and sent a ball into the right center field gap for a two run triple. After a Jake Burlock walk and stolen base, Pasquale Campagnuolo hit a hard ground ball that deflected off the pitcher and scored Owen Murray. Nolan O’Toole then hit a grounder that hit the third base bag for a single and an RBI. B1 Ghost took a 6-0 lead to the bottom half of the fifth, with just three outs to go due to time limit.
After the bottom of the fifth started with two straight walks from Jeshiva, B1 decided to give the ball to Jojo Basile to close it out. Basile looked dominant in his first two at-bats, getting two straight strikeouts with an elevated fastball. Basile proceeded to walk the next two batters he faced, but eventually settled down again and got his third strikeout of the inning on a fastball and secured the 6-1 win for B1 Ghost Parise.
B1’s impressive win on Wednesday is no accident; they continue to roll in league play, as they are now 13-4 in the Boys of Summer 15u American division. The win was a full team effort, but there is no denying that Zachary Jeshiva’s performance on the mound made it easier for the rest of the team. He finished his day with 4 innings of just 1 run ball, and he spoke to Axcess Baseball postgame about his mindset on the mound.
