North Babylon knew they needed this series.
The Bulldogs finish their regular season against first-place Smithtown East, and it behooved them to only need one win in the final three games to clinch a playoff berth. They were able put themselves in a position to do so by winning two of three against a talented Hills East team, winning today by the score of 5-2.

Their offense wasted little time getting on the board in this one. After the first two batters were retired, Jordan Konig continued his torrid season with a triple to right center field. He is now batting .500 on the season. He scored on an RBI double by Dan Goodis to right field.
Their starter, Ryan Camier, was dominant for much of this game, firing three scoreless innings to start the game.
His offense went back to work in the second inning against freshman RHP Jacob Perlman. After a leadoff single and two base error off the bat of Tommy Morton, TJ Oppedisano drove him in with an RBI single to center. Perlman was able to settle down, getting a caught stealing and retired the next two batters.

After teams traded zeros in the third inning, Hills East got on the board in the top of the fourth inning aided by an E5 to start the inning. Dean Perlman added a single to move D’Amico to second. After a strikeout and fly out, Nathan Greene ripped an RBI double into the right center field gap.
Perlman fired a scoreless fourth inning to get his team in the dugout. They were able to tie the game up when a leadoff single and errant pickoff throw allowed the runner to advance to third. Perlman helped himself with an RBI single to make it a 2-2 ballgame.

The Bulldogs responded quickly in the home half of the fifth. Aidan Walsh got the rally started with a single to right field and Tristan Garcia was walked to move the runner into scoring position. James Mieszerski came through with an RBI single to give the Bulldogs the lead back and they added another run on an RBI single by Konig.
Camier went back out for the sixth inning and worked around a leadoff walk with a back pick by the catcher to erase the runner. He issued a two-out walk but he struck out the next batter to end the inning.

North Babylon was able to add another run in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Aidan Walsh which eluded the glove of the second baseman. It scored TJ Oppedisano, who hit a one-out single.
Motivated to finish what he started, Camier was able to fire a 1-2-3 seventh inning to slam the door on the victory.
“We’re getting better as the season is going on,” said Head Coach Steve Corrado. “We had two-out hits for our first two runs – big hits for us. We started off the year a little slow. We started off with 7 road games because our field wasn’t really playable. But to bounce back and to get this series was huge for us and put ourselves in a position to clinch a playoff spot next week which is our ultimate goal.”
