A dominant pitching performance by Division Blue Dragons starter Jefferson Biener and dominant third and fifth innings powered the Blue Dragons past the MacArthur Generals 9-1. With the home victory, the Blue Dragons move to 6-4 overall with a 4-3 league record, while the Generals drop to 7-3 overall with a 5-2 league record.
Biener went the distance for the Blue Dragons, tossing seven innings off one run ball, allowing only four hits and struck out seven while not walking a single batter. Alex Darzano started on the mound for the Generals, he allowed nine runs (five earned) on seven hits, striking out four and walking two. However, the Generals defense didn’t do Darzano many favors, as they committed four errors during the game.
Despite surrendering nine runs, it was the Generals who were able to get on the board first, as a Michael Joyce lead off single led to an RBI single by Chase Palma. The Generals were able to maintain their narrow 1-0 lead until a third inning offensive explosion by Division.
The first of four third inning runs for Division came on a throwing error by Darzano. One batter later, Isiah Marino drove in a run on an RBI single. The third run came in on a failed pick off attempt at first, which saw Generals catcher Angelo Forthofer’s throw sail over the first baseman’s head, allowing another run to score. The final run of the frame came on an infield single by Jason Perez.
Two more for Division!

After failing to score in the bottom half of the fourth, the Blue Dragons picked up right where they left off in the fifth, putting up a five spot. The first two runs came when a sharp ground ball by Frank Maiorano ate up MacArthur shortstop Palma, which made the score 6-1. Jack Harrington drove in a run on an RBI single, and Mike Hartmann drove in the final two runs of the game for the Blue Dragons on a two RBI single.
The Blue Dragons finished the game with nine total hits. Marino, Perez and Harrington each collected multi-hit games. Tyler Scarry, Colin Connolly and Hartmann had one hit each for Division. For the Generals, Michael Joyce, Chris Lonergan, Forthofer and Palma had hits in the loss.
The Division Blue Dragons will look to extend their win streak to seven when they continue their series with MacArthur on April 22.
